A no-holds-barred, intimate memoir by John McEnroe—the bad boy of professional tennis.

John McEnroe stunned the tennis elite when he came out of nowhere to make the Wimbledon semifinals at the age of eighteen—and just a few years later, he was ranked number one in the world. You Cannot Be Serious is McEnroe at his most personal, an intimate examination of Johnny Mac, the kid from Queens, and his “wild ride” through the world of professional tennis at a boom time when players were treated like rock stars.

In this “bracing serve-and-volley autobiography” (The Boston Globe) he candidly explores the roots of his famous on-court explosions; his ambivalence toward the sport that made him famous; his adventures (and misadventures) on the road; his views of colleagues from Connors to Borg to Lendl; his opinions of contemporary tennis; his marriages to actress Tatum O'Neal and pop star Patty Smyth; and his roles as husband, father, senior tour player, and often-controversial commentator.

"I was always a fan when John played on the pro circuit. I thought his serve and volley style to be refreshing. This book relates all the aspects of his life that most people don't know. It really demonstrates the struggles John faced both on the circuit and off. I found the book enlightening and humorous. I like Johnny Mac even more now....."

You Cannot Be Serious eBook John McEnroe James Kaplan Reviews

  • Very honest. Pretty interesting although I got tired of all the tournament data towards the end. His marriage to Tatum O'Neal was pretty interesting, too. When he starts talking about Patti Smith and marrying her, I thought, No way! I was thinking of the Patti Smith who wrote Just Kids. It's not that Patti Smith. McEnroe's mother is referred to only a few times, but when she is referenced--she really sounds like a ....an unkind, insensitive person. Maybe John got a bit of his nutso behavior on the court from her. He sounds like a very good dad, though. And honest about why his first marriage didn't work out. He was an admittedly selfish guy, but he does change over time.

    Recommended
  • Being a competitive tennis player in the 80’s, I really loved watching John McEnroe, and even more then not; found myself cheering him on. This was entertaining, and I enjoyed the “behind the scenes” views Johnny Mac shared. It seems to me Mr McEnroe wanted to set the record straight about how he choose to live his life, apologizing for his behavior, leaving the Davis Cup, and such, but honestly, his choices were his, we all make mistakes (wish we acted differently) but it’s all just another tough match of life. Impossible to change the results, but I’ve we learn and improve from it, we’ve raised our game to the next level.
  • As my favorite player growing up in the eighties, this book didn’t disappoint. The great matches with Borg, Lendl and Connors are discussed. Especially my favorite the ‘84 French open final and his overall year in 1984, which is one of the greatest years ever by a professional tennis player. It was also nice to read about his background growing up, family and adult personal life. A different take than the opprobrium he’s received from the press. Well worth the used book price I paid for the paperback.
  • I was always a fan when John played on the pro circuit. I thought his serve and volley style to be refreshing. This book relates all the aspects of his life that most people don't know. It really demonstrates the struggles John faced both on the circuit and off. I found the book enlightening and humorous. I like Johnny Mac even more now.....
  • I've been a big fan of Mac and he is why I picked up racket when I was 12. I was always puzzled why he would go all that stuff even when he is playing (appears) terrific. His candid confession of his uncertainty inside his brain makes all sense now. Mac is a human being after all. I think current top players are behaving (maybe too well) themselves. Probably because potential public repercussion is too huge to ignore. It's a little squeezing world.
  • Johnny Mac is a very interesting guy. Having grown up watching his epic matches with Borg and Connors I was eager to read this book. It did not disappoint. You will be happy to find all the details on his tennis career and all of the behind-the-scenes action that the media never covers.

But even more impressive was to read about John's growth from a self-centered kid into a mature father. As one who has made the same journey, this part really touched me.

The only thing missing was more dirt on his ex-wife's abuse of narcotics and their custody battle, as well as details on the abuse dished out by his ex-father law. But I guess you have to respect a guy who doesn't trash people just to sell a few more books.

Well worth the (used book) price!
  • This book is so much fun to read. McEnroe is a unique individual. He is incredibly arrogant, neurotic, rude, self centered, and narcissic. He is also insightful, brilliant, artistic. He understands the game like few others. He also plays the game like few others. It all comes through perfectly well in this biography. Nothing in this book was surprising. It was all expectable Mac in your face stuff. And, it was so much fun.
On a more serious tone, Mac has a lot of smart wisdom to impart about the game, and the game's direction. He makes a lot of recommendation that make a lot of sense, but unfortunately are utopic. The most noteworthy of them, is that tennis should go back to wood racquets. I fully agree. Mac feels that the character of the game, and the associated skill requirement completely changed after that.
I don't know if anyone remembers the artistic, versatile styles of Adriano Panata, Ilie Nastase, Tom Okker, Manuel Santana. They all played with wood racquets. Their style of finesse and unpredictability is gone from the game. John McEnroe also emulated that style. Today, our only hope is Roger Federer who shows the versatility and talent of the past. Unfortunately, he rarely passes the first round in any Gran Slam tournaments, and gets worn down by some anonymous grunter.
  • If you were into tennis in the McEnroe era, this book is really good. Not so sure about it if you didn't know about the players Mac includes. I was and still am a fan from those days besides having been a teaching pro during that era, so I loved the book.

Calm the F*ck Down An Irreverent Adult Coloring Book Sasha O'Hara Books Reviews

  • This book summarizes my life. The day it arrived in the mail, my 12 year old daughter was having a hysterical fit over the screen of her iPhone not working correctly (which was solved by restarting her phone - but not until she sobbed hysterically about her life being over for 30 minutes). I looked at her face, I looked at the book, I looked at her face again, I looked at the book again. And all was right with the world.
I don't have enough words in my vocabulary to describe how awesome the drawings are in this book. Sometimes I want something intricate to focus on while the world around me is being annoying. Sometimes I want something quick and easy. And some days I just want to color in pictures with silly words. This book allows me to do all of the above.
I can’t even begin to pick a favorite picture. There are so many incredible choices. They work well with pens and pencils. The pictures are cheeky and fun. There’s something to suit every mood swing. Well almost every move swing - I’m not sure about the full spectrum of tween girl mood swings yet.
I seriously want to find the author and give her a hug. And maybe buy her a drink. Because she gets it. I already ordered the next book in the series - and I know I will love it too.
I’ve attached a couple of my favorites. These gave me great joy to color. If this matches your sense of humor - then you need this book
  • Loved the title.
  • This book will do exactly as it says. It will help you calm the f down. The book is awesome. It has one image per page, not front and back, so no worries about markers bleeding thru and ruining another image. I love that there are a couple of pages at the front to test your colors on. The book has awesome images and sayings. The images vary significantly so there really is something for everyone. I've included some sample images from the book to get an idea of what is inside. Amazing book for anyone who loves to color at a super reasonable price. Great gift idea. I'm buying a couple more for friends now that I've seen the inside. Only thing that could make it better is if it were spiral bound, but that's just my preference.
  •  Love the coloring sheets the only bad side is I kept thinking that the sheets was to thin and I was absolutely right if you color with markers you must rip the page out 🙄 other than that I guess it’s a good coloring book love the pictures that’s in the book and also the different quotes on the pages
  • This is a fun book that gives you a wee chuckle when you start coloring. And during. Then when you read it again when you come back to continue your coloring. The pages are fairly interesting and easy to color. Thee is something for everyone. Easy ones, tiny detailed, and the average coloring page. I feel it's not as intimidating as some of the books out there with billions of tiny coloring spaces where you have to figure out how to make it beautiful. Therefore, doing the opposite of what calling coloring is supposed to do! It only has 21 pages but they last unless you're a coloring beast and get them done quickly. Hopefully that was informative!
  • A couple months ago, I joined the adult coloring book craze and have purchased a number of different coloring books. I mostly choose coloring books with animal designs, mandalas, and various patterns but I needed something to satisfy my sarcastic side. Once I found this book, I immediately ordered it because many reviewers claimed it was stress-relieving AND hilarious, which was exactly what I needed!

When I started coloring in this book, I couldn't believe how funny and sarcastic it is! Seriously, you can't own this book and not laugh while coloring in it. The saying goes, "Laughter is the best medicine" and this book is a very inexpensive and enjoyable way to relax. The book measures 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches so the pages are regular printer paper size. There are two color test pages at the front of the book so you can test out your colored pencils or gel pens before you start coloring. There are 21 designs in all, each on their own separate page so you could tear them out to hang up, share with a friend, etc. Some are printed portrait whereas others are printed landscape. Some designs have swear words in them while others have lots of sarcasm and funny pictures to accompany them! There are a couple designs that are somewhat intricate but most of them should be fairly easy to color with colored pencils and gel pens. The paper used is somewhat thinner than other books I have but I just put some paper underneath the page so the gel pens don't bleed through.

This is a great book for anyone who has a sarcastic side and loves to color! It is not meant to be used for children and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is offended by profanity or very serious. I'm enjoying this book so much that I hope Sasha O'Hara comes out with others like this! I highly recommend it!
  • I love the idea of this book but I don't think it was executed correctly. The words are all diffrent and that's good. But the flowers and the artworks are all about the same on most of the pages. Seems a little boring. But still a lot of fun to color
  • Love this entire book. Pictures are a fun challenge to color & the quotes are very funny & true!! Hoping that there will be another book soon!!

From award-winning ABC News Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman, and written using exclusive interviews and information comes the definitive account of the dramatic story that gripped the world the miracle rescue of 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped in a flooded cave miles underground for nearly three weeks - a pulse-pounding account by a reporter who was there every step of their journey out.

After a practice in June 2018, a Thai soccer coach took a dozen of his young players to explore a famous but flood-prone cave. It was one of the boys' birthday, but neither he nor the dozen resurfaced. Worried parents and rescuers flocked to the mouth of a cave that seemed to have swallowed the boys without a trace. Ranging in age from 11 to 16, the boys were all members of the Wild Boars soccer team. When water unexpectedly inundated the cave, blocking their escape, they retreated deeper inside, taking shelter in a side cavern. While the world feared them dead, the 13 young souls survived by licking the condensation off the cave's walls, meditating, and huddling together for warmth.

In this thrilling account, ABC News Chief National Correspondent Matt Gutman recounts this amazing story in depth and from every angle, exploring their time in the cave, the failed plans and human mistakes that nearly doomed them, and the daring mission that ultimately saved them. Gutman introduces the elite team of volunteer divers who risked death to execute a plan so risky that its American planners admitted, "for us, success would have meant getting just one boy out alive." He takes you inside the meetings where life and death decisions were grimly made and describes how these heroes pulled off an improbable rescue under immense pressure, with the boys' desperate parents and the entire world watching. One of the largest rescues in history was in doubt until the very last moment.

Matt Gutman covered the story intensively, went deep inside the caves himself, and interviewed dozens of rescuers, experts, and eye-witnessed around the world. The result is this pulse-pounding telling that vividly recreates this extraordinary event in all its intensity - and documents the ingenuity and sacrifice it took to succeed.

"Matt Gutman admits the book was pitched 5 days after the rescue ended and in-depth articles had not been written so there was no frame of reference for the story; his rush to publish is reflected in the number of errors in the book.

From how the kids drank water while trapped (they didn't drink waters from the flooded cave, but from the stalctites), to misspelling the name of a British diver throughout the book; the transcript of the exchange between the British divers and the kids is incorrect (i.e., 2 children, not 1, spoke English with the divers; some dialogue was attributed to the wrong British diver). A picture of the kids mislabled a name and excludes the name of one of the pictured children who had a very close call exiting the cave. Coach Ek is incorrectly identified as riding on the back of a moped driven by one of the children and live-streaming the bike ride to the cave "in a bit of precarious, don't-try-this-at-home-kids multitasking" event...except, the coach is clearly seen in the video riding a bike. The coaches' history as a novice monk (temple location) and reference to the Moo Pa founding coach (he only references 1 of the 2 coaches) conflicts with other sources.

For some readers these details may be insignificant - for me it's these details that make the story - but it makes me doubt the veracity of the book and what he got right and wrong in the rush to publish, including the characterizations of some of the volunteers and their experiences during this incredible rescue. This riveting real life event is a story waiting for Laura Hillenbrand to write. It is only fair to the readers and moreso the volunteers, kids and coach to get the story right."

  • Author Matt Gutman of ABC news was on hand during the harrowing adventure of 13 individuals stranded in a Thailand cave and has written a compelling account of this one of a kind story. The book covers the adventure from the beginning entrance to the cave until the final rescue of all concerned and their recovery in the hospital.

There are parts of the book that was beyond my understanding of the intricacies involved in the ultimate rescue. There was differing opinions regarding what method to use and when for it to take place. Individuals from different countries had differing opinions as to how to go about the problem. Fatalities were assumed to take place with one person coming out alive to be considered a success.

To me the most suspenseful part of the book was when the actual rescue was taking place. There were a lot of things that had to be taken into consideration especially when it was being done on an experimental basis for the first time. A lot of teamwork had to take place with people having to play a role involving a part of which they had no previous experience. For all of the individuals to come out of the cave safely was a result no one dared to expect. This impossible rescue became possible due to the efforts of many individuals and the grace of God. Lessons learned from this experience will hopefully lead to what can be helpful in future rescues.
  • Not one TV report or newspaper article I read captured this nail biting dramatic rescue about the group of 12 boys and their sports coach trapped helplessly in a cave in northern Chiang Rai, Thailand in the way author and award-winning ABC News Correspondent Matt Gutman has in this riveting read.

"The Boys in the Cave" accurately follows the story of the young soccer team, known as the Wild Boars, who became cut off when a heavy rainstorm flooded a stream at the cave's entrance. This book actually draws you into the cave itself and you get a real feel of what it may have been like during those harrowing 18 days spent confined in the dark and dank underground chamber before the miracle rescue.

It's apparent when reading Gutman's thorough account he is a family man. With his exclusive first hand information from people on the scene as the drama unfolds, Gutman puts himself in the boy’s parent’s shoes. You feel the worry, fear and anxiety from a parent’s point of view and that is precisely what makes this book so compelling … I could not put this gripping book down for toffee, and neither will you!
  • When a Thai boys' soccer team and their coach became trapped far back into a flooded local cave system, their rescue became a national priority with the entire world watching. Elite Thai and US military personnel were called in, but it soon became clear that only a handful of people in the world (mostly from Britain) had the skills and experience required to even reach the boys. An actual rescue seemed impossible. How this real-life drama played out is masterfully reported in this well-written book. How dedicated, brave people from very different organizations worked together to accomplish a "miracle" becomes an inspirational as well as very exciting story. Highly recommended.

From the Ground Up A Journey to Reimagine the Promise of America Audible Audio Edition Howard Schultz Random House Audio Books Reviews

  • Easy read that strikes a good balance between autobiography, entrepreneurship, and politics. Schultz' contrasts an America that allowed him to go from the projects to the boardroom. The system has deteriorated into two angry tribes engaging in revenge politics with short-term thinking that have long-term negative consequences for the country (notably the staggering national debt which most major politicians ignore as it's easier to say the right things to get elected and leave the bill for the next generation). It's a cautionary tale that moderates/centrists/libertarians/etc. have been saying for quite some time - usually on deaf ears that are only interested in distinguishing between 'red' and 'blue'.
  • I see a lot of bad reviews on this book. I got the book a few hours ago and I started reading it first pages. I hope all those people who left bad reviews on this book, never ever had to dealing with sh!t like most people deals under the middle class.

When I was in the school with no money, living in a tiny room, where the house living room was full of people, I always took my cousin laptop and I run away escaping from those noise people to the nearest Starbucks store in my city. There, I can put my headphones on and forget about the word, making my homework quietly.

After reading a few pages it makes sense how I felt back in the days at my favorite cafeteria (Starbucks) no-one bother me, it was just my self and I. I don’t understand why people puts to much hate on a book that probably haven’t reads yet.

As a dreamer, I can see a successful man starting from the button and I can’t wait to take notes from this great book. You have to be humble enough to share these memories, this man doesn’t need to tell the world about his life experiences or successful company secrets.

All I can tell to Howard S. Is thank you for sharing your life through this pages. I don’t really care if you run for president, so far, all I care is what I can take from the book I have on my hands.

Highly recommended. Five stars ⭐️ +
  • Diclaimer I'm Turkish. English is my second language.

After reading the first 50 pages my thought was that this book is not edited. I didn't know about the presidency thing and his awful opinion on not introducing further taxes on the wealthy. The first pages of book is full of hyperboles, boring unnnecesssary statements, vague opinions, run on sentences, I was confused.

I am, however, a big fan of his initial memoir, "Pour Your Heart Into It". Things seemed much more sincere there and the tone is much more fresh and relatable. I wish this book took that flag and carried into deeper into sincerity and honesty. Instead it seems like one big pep talk.
  • He has some fresh ideas!
  • its a good book. I see Liberals are trying to throw the ratings off because they are mad he is running and they "think" this is why they will lose again in 2020. Throw all the left right out...what he says makes sense.
  • Great story, nicely told
  • When my copy arrived on 1/30, I settled in and read the book from cover to cover. It's an interesting read. At times, intriguing. I haven't read any previous books by Howard Schultz and am not a Starbucks customer. There's a lot I didn't know about this former CEO or his company.
"From The Ground Up A Journey to Reimagine the Promise of America" combines the story of his life from childhood on, a revolutionary business model that grew and expanded as Starbucks became a household name across the globe, and the value Schultz placed on his employees (aka partners), their dreams/goals and the communities they serve. The author's passion for creating opportunities is clear throughout all 335 pages. I was struck by his transparency and--especially--his willingness to own mistakes made along the way. A trait that's increasingly rare. There were areas that seemed to "bunny trail", yet I found the bulk of the book compelling. Thought-provoking. I don't agree with everything Schultz believes. I don't have to. It's a worthwhile read on it's own merits.
  • Mr. Schultz's views align with a large number of Americans I'm sure. It's refreshing to know that a healthy and hopeful view towards our country and it's future still exists. Hard work and good ideas should be rewarded not penalized. Bravo Howard Schultz for sharing your story, both the good and the bad parts.

The Teen Guide to World Domination Advice on Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Awesomeness Josh Shipp 9780312641542 Books Reviews

  • I read this with my 17-year-old daughter and my take on it was that I wish I'd heard all this when I was her age, but of course, there's nothing like hind-sight. Her take was not as positive, unfortunately, mainly because she didn't like the author's tone in which she felt he was condescending when, for example, he offers his insight on "dominating your own world," followed by the question, "Are you willing to dominate your own world? If you can't answer "yes," just shut the book, eBay it, and use the money to buy yourself an assortment of suckers because that's what you are, a sucker, and that's the way you're choosing to live your life. I hope you like the flavor."

Her feeling was that these follow-up lines may have been meant to be funny, but it was a turn-off to her. She is a sensitive young lady, who likes to take her time to ponder new ideas, so this style of push back just didn't work for her. I get others may not have the same reaction as my daughter, and while I did feel it was a tad pushy, I forgave Mr. Shipp, because I still think his insights and advice are very good. Like I said, I wish someone had told me this stuff at that age - would have saved me some of my early gray hairs - or maybe some of those I caused my mother back then!?
  • Bought this for my girls, ages 12-17 to read. I took the advice of another reviewer and placed a $20 bill as a bookmark.
I haven't read the book. My 17 year old said it is full of good information, but is written for younger kids. I have noticed that she is more appreciative and likely to help with household chores since she has read it. Next in line is my 14 year old. I'll write another review when she finishes.
  • I have 14 year old son who is very bright but generally would rather do pretty much anything other than read. I bought this book and without a word put it on his bedside table. Over the next two days he spent all his free time reading this book from cover to cover and when he was finished proceeded to tell me about how awesome it was. Two days later I walked into his usual disaster area room to find it immaculate, drawers and closet completely cleaned out and reorganized, various belongings put away, thrown away, or hung up. UNSOLICITED! Coincidence? I think not ;)
  • Gift for teen brother
He loved it, even read it a second time. My brother spends most of his time playing computer games... So glad I got it for him.
  • Spoiler alert This book is about how to manage yourself and deal with the people and circumstances of your life in practical, positive and effective ways.

My grandson didn't consider reading his favorite pastime. (He likes reading now, partly thanks to this book!) He seldom expresses his enthusiasm, and, being a typical 12-year-old (well, actually a superfragilisticexpealidocious+ 12-year-old) he doesn't gush over gifts from grandma. He called me specifically to rave about how much this book reflected his feelings and life experiences and helped understand himself and others. He appreciated the author's sense of humor and down to earth approach. I also bought a copy for myself. After all, if one's grandson is going to be emperor one wants to know the etiquette and language of state; and even if he's just going to keep on growing into regular old manhood it was helpful to know my gift to him was appropriate and useful from my own point of view as well as his. I was surprised to find that a lot of the information would be useful for anyone.
  • My life for the last two years just somehow steered out of my once strong path. I use to have everything planned for me, always had something to do, and I was considered an overachiever with amazing grades/test scores. About two years later, I had accepted that I was going to hell and I hated everyone. My grades dropped and so did my happiness. During those one year and nine months of those two years, I had been able to keep myself going in order to get myself free, until one month I just cracked under all the misery. I had stopped trying to get myself to a good place, and I just wanted to let myself have a horrible life.

I decided to read this book, and for the first few pages I just was like, "This doesn't help me... Already know it... Bleh." then suddenly, I hit the part when he talks about villains in our lives, and the first villain he talks about are "Ghost," which is like bad memories coming to haunt you. I was in shock, like, "Oh my god, there is a name for that?!" because I had been dealing with ghost for that last two years nonstop. I had so many people telling me I'd fail, that I was a horrible person with no friends, I'd never do anything in life, and it stuck with me through these ghost, when all of it was untrue. I had let other people label me, which he also talks about.

The day I read this book was the day after three months of being absolutely angry (I had been doing really stupid stuff too, such as wandering around the streets at midnight) to being back to a girl who was willing to fight for herself. Got accepted in an amazing school, and I now deal with the villains in my life without fear.

READ THIS BOOK IF YOU WANT SUCCESS IN YOUR LIFE. It doesn't matter if you have issues in your life or not! It just is great for learning about basic people.
  • I gave it to my 14 year old son for his birthday and he found the authors sense of humor engaging enough to read the first 2 chapters that night.
  • I’ve been reading this book with my son as he will be going into middle school and will be going through a lot of changes. This book is informative, easy to read, has humor and you can relate to it. I strongly recommend getting this!!!!

America Geekheart Bro Code Book 2 edition by Pippa Grant Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

  • This is my favorite Pippa Grant book. Which is a big deal as I have loved all of her books but this one was extra special.

A former boy-band-star-turned-underwear-model who doesn't believe in love for himself but falls in love at first site. An adorable but awkward engineer who has pretty much sworn off love. The best first meeting I have read in a long, long, long time. Giraffes. An ending so sweet I immediately reread just to relive the happiness. Yup, my new favorite Pippa Grant book!
  • I was torn by this book. It was entertaining and I adored Beck. And Sarah grew into herself and found her power. I did think that her father was made out to be a Clint Eastwood wannabe for gratuitous humor and it fell flat.
But my real problem with it was the Tweet. Supposedly, Beck was sending a bad joke to his sister who had just gotten engaged to his best friend. It was supposed to be a private Tweet but he accidentally made it public. The part I don’t get is it didn’t have his sister’s Twitter name, it had Sarah’s. Why? And he had never met Sarah. She was Ellie’s next door neighbor but they weren’t really friends, so how did he even know her Twitter name? It pretty much ruined the whole story for me because even while I was reading the rest, which for the most part was good, I kept thinking about it.
  • Genre Romantic Comedy - Fake Relationship
    Standalone Yes
Part of a Series Yes Book 2 of the Bro Code series
    POV Beck and Sarah
Steam Level Slow Burn to sexy
    4.5/5

While not as crazy funny as some other Pippa Grant books, America's Geekheart makes up for it by being sweet and sexy. I love Beck and his love for Sarah's natural beauty. He sees her for her and Sarah, being a bit jaded, enjoys, but doesn't really trust Beck's happiness and positive worldview. Fans of Pippa Grant will enjoy the cameo (I know I did). Sarah's dad, though, stole the show. I about died with his threats and batdad persona. I hope to see more of him and her mom in future books. Pippa Grant has basically become one of only a few authors whose books I've bought all of. If you're looking for a super cute romantic comedy that gives you all the feels then definitely pick up America's Geekheard (and all of Pippa Grant's other books as well).
  • It’s not often a book lives up to its hype, but America’s Geekheart certainly does. I admit I had a bit of a struggle to get into the first couple of chapters but I was quite distracted, so it could have just been me and my wonky attention span. I persevered because of my love for Pippa Grant’s other works and the great reviews this book has gotten, and I’m so very, very glad I did.

I loved Sarah and Beck and their supporting cast of friends, parents, coworkers, a cat, a pig, and a giraffe who serves karmic justice!! This was a heartwarming story with quite a few true laugh out loud moments! Charlie and Mackenzie were outstanding supporting characters for Sarah and Beck and I hope they both get their own books! I just can’t wait to see what Pippa writes for Tripp and who his h will be. His backstory breaks my heart.
  • Take one billionaire underwear model aka goofy, happy kid at heart and add one reclusive girl with a secret who is out to save the world and one giant mistake and shake. What do you get? A new Pippa Grant book of course! Add in hilarious parents, a baseball team, lots of crazy friends, a pregnant giraffe, a pig in a tutu, angry yoga moms, Eurasions, inspired (and hilarious) bodily threats and so, so much more. What starts out as Beck trying to fix a problem that threatens to destroy both their lives turns to the sweetest love ever. This book is laugh out loud funny, sweet enough to maybe make you cry just a bit, and full of mischief, mayhem and shenanigans! It's Pippa at her best and if you haven't read her books, start now! I was delighted to receive an arc of this book and happy to leave a review!
  • AMERICA’S GEEKHEART

I was just about to start this review with yet another confession that I don’t really enjoy books about famous musicians, actors, models, etc. Then I realized how I seem to always mention how I don’t usually like certain romance tropes and/or genres but Pippa Grant always seems to change my mind. I guess that’s probably the lesson we all can walk away from Pippa’s books, that she does it all really well and that is true reason I will never NOT read her stories.

Beck Ryder is the star of this book! The feminist in me wants to riot against not giving a large chunk of the kudos to the heroines for being strong and amazing, and Sarah totally is all that, don’t get me wrong. However, I don’t think I’ve ever read a character with as much personality, charisma, fame and money as Beck who also just happens to be the most down-to-earth, caring and least superficial human on earth.

Sure he’s gorgeous and he knows it, and it feels weird to say that he’s humble because he almost comes across ass arrogant if you’re not paying attention, but he knows he has flaws and that he could be cocky, selfish billionaire but he doesn’t want to be. He really does believe in making a mark on the world by changing it, in more ways than just selling comfy underwear.

I love his fierce protectiveness of Sarah and his love for his family and lifelong neighborhood friends. He was a total breath of fresh air.

Everyone knows I love a good, geeky girl who doesn’t care about outward appearances and actually shies away from the limelight. Even better when she catches the eye of someone as amazing as Beck but doesn’t just fall at his feet. Even better, she doesn’t try to change herself for him but does open herself up to seeing the things he sees in her and learning that she doesn’t have to avoid attention and fame just because she’s different.

This story was fun and sweet but it was also a lesson in how sometimes getting out of your comfort zone is the best way to find your true self and how love with the right person helps bring out the best in both of you.

Bro Code is an absolute must read series and I can’t wait to what’s coming next!
